Spindle Bearing

Spindle bearings are single-row angular contact ball bearings consisting of solid inner rings, solid outer rings, precision steel balls, and solid window-type cages. These bearings are non-separable designs and are available in both open and sealed versions.
Manufactured with extremely tight dimensional tolerances, spindle bearings are designed for applications requiring high guidance accuracy and high rotational speed.
They provide reliable performance and are widely used in machine tool spindle assemblies.

Spindle Bearing Features

Detailed information on spindle bearing design, calculation, lubrication, speed capability, and fitting recommendations is available in the AC41130 precision bearing catalog.

Radial and Axial Load Capacity:Spindle bearings can accommodate radial loads and unidirectional axial loads.

  • O-arrangement (DB) and X-arrangement (DF)bearing configurations can support axial loads in both directions as well as moment loads.
  • Tandem arrangements (DT)can support axial loads in one direction only.

The contact angles of spindle bearings are typically:

  • 15° (C suffix)
  • 25° (E suffix)

Operating Temperature:The operating temperature range of angular contact ball bearings is influenced by sealing materials and cage materials. Generally, spindle bearings are suitable for operating temperatures from –30°C to +100°C.
The standard grease used in sealed spindle bearings is typically suitable for temperatures up to +80°C. Proper lubricant selection should consider the actual operating temperature and application conditions.

✅ Cages:Spindle bearings equipped with solid window-type cages use reinforced fiber cage materials (T suffix). The cage is guided by the outer ring.Compatibility between cage and seal materials with synthetic greases or lubricants containing extreme-pressure (EP) additives should be verified. At elevated temperatures, aged lubricants and additives may reduce the service life of cages and seals. Lubricants should be replaced according to the recommended maintenance intervals.
